At first I thought these were just moms who blogged about Disney and life as a mom, but it turns out most of them are all making money off their blogs. The 150-ish moms listened to a bunch of different speakers (the CEO of Build-A-Bear, Kathy Ireland) and networked with each other, learning the best ways to use social media to their advantage. I listened to a man (Guy Kawasaki, who they all knew and were excited to see) speak for an hour about Twitter and how to use it to sell yourself. I never knew that much thought went into tweeting! Of course, I thought mulitple times that all of my favorite mom bloggers should be doing the same thing. You're all so entertaining and crafty, so what are you waiting for?!?
I hope you all keep popping out kids because at this rate, your kids will be in college by the time I have children and they won't want anything to do with mine! I guess if all else fails I'll have babysitters ready to go. : )
In non-kid/mom related news, I need a new vacation to plan. I mean, Keri has like 17 planned for the year, I feel way behind! I'm probably going to Vegas in September, but I need something in between. Although I will most likely be moving in June since Lauren is moving to Jacksonville, so I should probably cool it on vacation planning since I'll have moving expenses to deal with. Ugh. I hate moving so much!
Alright, gotta go focus on the TV..Hoarders is about to start. That show is totally addictive and makes me want to clean out my closet immediately!

Hello 2010

I am terrible at keeping up with this blog. Clearly. My last post was in August. Part of the issue is that my computer is retarded and decides to not connect to the internet when I turn it on. I have to go in and set up a new connection, and it doesn't always work on the first try. Stupid wireless internet. I think it may be time to upgrade my computer. Since my computer is a pain, I use my lovely new iphone for most internet things, but I mostly use it for email, Facebook, Weather Channel, and TMZ. (All of the important things in life.) Anyway, that's my excuse.

I'm so over this cold weather. It just reinforces my desire to never live in a cold place. My hands are constantly freezing and my skin is dry, I haven't run in two weeks, and I'm running out of sweaters. Plus it took me an extra 15 minutes this morning to leave when there was a thick layer of ice on my windshield. Thank goodness for CD cases..they make excellent ice scrapers. Thankfully I am getting out of this state and headed to LA for the weekend to get some warmer temperatures. : ) Just a short weekend trip to visit my friend Keith and hit up Disneyland. I'm excited to go back since it's been a few years, and I love me an In-N-Out Burger!!!

I worked today to help with a film shoot at DisneyQuest for a family from Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It's an amazing family and I loved them before I even met them after seeing their video. Here's a link to part of their story, hopefully it will work so you can see how great they are! https://www.box.net/shared/dhffci1ee7 While they're here, Disney is planning a fairy-tale wedding for them, since they never had a real wedding. We're talking Cinderella's coach and all. The production manager invited me to go, so I will definitely be doing that! Seeing how weepy I got watching their video, I will have to bring a box of tissues to the wedding!

I will try to make it a little less time before my next post. Can't guarantee anything though!

Buongiorno!

After Greece, it was back to Italy. These guides are unbelievable with how much detailed info they know about everything you see. Again, it was amazing to see how much still existed almost 2000 years later and to hear stories about the gladiators and the history of the place.
Next stop, Pisa and Florence. There's so many museums and churches I wish we could have visited but there wasn't time. We did a lot of walking through town with our guide and learned a lot of the background of the city. We saw a replica of the famous David statue, walked through the city center and saw so much beautiful architecture and sculpture.
Are you tired of hearing about my vacation yet? I kept hearing that Croatia is the new 'hot spot', but I wasn't blown away. It was beautiful, but it wasn't my favorite place we visited. We walked the walls of the old town, since it was surrounded to protect it during war. Spent most of the afternoon back on the ship in our self-titled area "Relaxation Station" outside on the 3rd deck in lounge chairs.
Our first stop in Greece was Corfu. Took a taxi to the beach, driven by our favorite new Greek, Demetrius. I think it's funny how so many people we met on the trip would immediately say they only speak a little english and then be able to carry on a pretty full conversation with you. I was lucky to be able to say anything in Greek! Anyway, the beach was beautiful but the sand would literally scald your feet if you stood in it longer than 5 seconds. I had never experienced that before, and the sand wasn't even that dark in color. Then you stepped in the water and it was freezing. Very strange combo.
Definitely my favorite stop in Greece was Santorini. We took a tour of some villages and then went to a black sand beach, which was really cool. Strangely enough, the sand was not as hot as the orangy colored sand in Corfu.

After our tour, we embarked on our donkey ride up the side of the mountain into town. You either have to take the cable car or donkey to get up, and we knew we couldn't leave Greece without our 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' moment. Little did we know that the trip up on our donkeys was on our own, so we got put on donkeys and off we went. I mean, our donkeys know where they're going since they do it every day, but it was still an adventure. Every so often, they would just stop walking and we'd have to coax them into starting up again. When we got towards the top, we ran into what we called a donkey blockade. Our donkeys stopped and were not interested in moving again. Since we were almost at the top, we figured our ride was over. As we discussed it, trying to get our donkeys moving, the locals had gathered above us watching us sort this all out. Lauren and I got off pretty easily, but Bethany's foot got caught in her stirrup and the saddle slid with her as she dropped to the ground. It was hilarious, and she didn't get too hurt or covered in donkey poop, so it was ok. It's nice to be back sleeping in my own bed, not having to listen to the snoring of my roomie, getting water for free in restaurants (and automatically getting ice- Erica I totally understand what you're talking about!), not having to pay to use the bathroom, there always being a toilet seat and toilet paper, and of course having Diet Coke that tastes right since the US is ok with cancer-causing sugar substitutes.
The down side of coming back from vacation is that I don't have all of my meals cooked for me (and have it available pretty much 24 hours a day), I don't wake up in a new exciting locale every day, and I have to go back to work in a few days. Ugh.
Back to the glorious vacation... we started in Rome for two days before taking the train to Venice to get on our cruise ship. We took the hop on/off bus to see as much as possible in the two days. We booked a Vatican tour which was amazing. That place is so huge, there's so much to see, so it's nice to have someone with a lot of knowledge about it giving you a tour. The Sistine Chapel was amazing and I was taken aback by how huge St. Peter's Basilica is. This is one of my fave pics I took of a blocked off stairwell just outside the Sistine Chapel..
We ate lots of gelato and pizza, trying not to think of the horrible Euro-Dollar conversion rate. It was super hot the entire trip and we discovered there is no such thing as clouds during the summer in the Mediterranean. Good thing we were prepared with sunscreen!
Arrived in Venice, but after getting off the train at the wrong stop we had to walk the "short 15 minute walk" to the cruise ship since we were past the area where there are cars. Little did we know there was a huge bridge in our path that had no ramp. Five of us trying to haul 75-100 pounds of luggage each up that bridge was quite a sight. People walking by were laughing at us, and a guy even took our video camera to get footage of our ridiculousness. Even after we got off the bridge, we still had what seemed like miles to walk mostly uphill to our ship. Our embarkation photo is pretty classic since we all look like crap from our memorable adventure. Luckily at that point, we were in the clear and ready to be taken care of on the ship. Turkey sandwiches for lunch and endless chocolate chip cookies made me a very happy girl. The ship was ok, not the best I've been on, but served its purpose. It was definitely mostly filled with old people, but we seem to make friends with the elderly easily so that worked for us. (We are much better off on a ship like that than some crazy Carnival nonstop party ship.)
Our first night we took a gondola ride, which was fantastic! It lasted almost 45 minutes and took us through the main canal and lots of little side canals. We had an accordion player on our gondola and there was a singer in the gondola right next to us, so we had lots of entertainment and singalongs. I kinda felt like I was at The Olive Garden with all the songs I heard. : ) I loved the gondola ride, and was hooked on Venice. I had heard mixed reviews of the city before my trip, but it's definitely one of my favorite places we went. Here's a pic I took from the gondola and Lauren and I in St. Mark's Square...
Gotta run...I will continue my trip review at a later date! : )

Mi Vida Loca

Apparently my life has been too busy to blog for the last few months, although I can't really explain why it's been that way. I guess my social calendar is more full than I thought!
I've been 30 for almost a week now, but don't feel a lot different. That age sounds so old when I say it, and I really don't think I act it (which may or may not be a good thing). I feel like I've had an extended celebration, starting with Hive fun last weekend. Renting a giant water slide was the greatest idea ever. It was fun to watch everyone try to out-do each other with tricks, and awesome to see all the kids get so ballsy to go down the slide, as well as daredevil Biscuit! I had a few slip and slide/water slide injuries, but it was all worth it. Even though I was lectured on why to stay single, I still look forward to having a fun family like all the Hive-ers do, and being an amazing mom like all of them. For now, I'm still happy to sleep in. : )
The only bad thing about Hive was catching the disease that all the kids seemed to have, which is still hanging around making me miserable. I thought it was running it's course earlier in the week, but over the weekend it feels like it's gotten worse, or at least taken a different route. I'm now coughing almost constantly and sound like a phone sex operator/teenager going through puberty. It's wonderful.
Probably didn't help that I went out on Saturday night to celebrate my b'day with all my Orlando friends. We went to the Firkin & Kegler Entertainment Center, which was really fun! We started with dinner in the pub, then did a game of bowling, then headed upstairs to their dance club area. I drank a LOT of Shock Top, which led to me getting quite tanked. I had so much fun, even if I couldn't sing along to the sweet tunes upstairs (we heard some Heartbreaker by Mariah, plus of course the Tootsie Roll and the Train!).
Anyway, now it's back to work for a five day work week, which I haven't had in a while. Boo. Now begins the countdown to my Mediterranean cruise...27 days until departure for Rome!!!

Back to Life...Back to Reality

Okay, back to the real world tomorrow...a five day workweek! Boo to that. I don't know how I'll survive it! But I should be glad that I even have a job, since Disney did some major layoffs over the last few weeks. My team stayed mostly intact, although our secretary did lose her job. They're doing lots of restructuring, so it will be interesting to see the changes in the company over the next few months. I was actually never so happy to be a manager at DisneyQuest when I heard about all the cuts they made in the Special Events world, where I used to be. If I had gotten the events manager job that I wanted (and deserved) before I left the Studios, I would have no job right now. The girl who got the job was let go last week. So as sucky as that is for her, I am thanking my lucky stars I got out of there. I know quite a few people who got let go that are managers in parks, and it is just really sad since so many of them are great cast members and have been with the company a long time. I'm actually really disappointed in Disney and how they handled everything. They treated these people like they were suddenly criminals, not even letting them go back to their offices or say goodbye to anyone. Plus nobody really got any reasons why it was them as opposed to some other manager getting layed off. I just hoped they'd have enough respect for these people that gave so much to their jobs, but in the end Disney is a company just like any other. They are focused on the bottom line, and not as much anymore on the people who put their heart and soul into making their magic. I guess I wanted them to be different, but they're not.
Anyway, on a lighter note...I had a nice week off in Jacksonville with Lauren. The weather was pretty crappy for most of the week so we didn't get to sun ourselves as much as we wanted. We went to the beach one day and visited St. Augustine another, which was only about 30 minutes away. We discovered the red box, which is the greatest invention ever...$1 DVD rentals! Amazing!!! I played the wii for the first time...lots of Mario Kart and classic Super Mario Brothers. So fun! I tried Guitar Hero for the first time and was horrible at it. We are getting the arcade version at Quest soon, and I know now that I will not play that in front of anyone! I didn't end up going to NYC, as much as I wanted to go. Just couldn't find cheap enough airfare to justify such a quick trip. But now it's back to reality (oh, there goes gravity!)...

Working Is Overrated!

Seriously, I could work like two days a week and be totally happy. I worked two this past week, three the week before, four the week before, and it was sweet! The four day week ended in my first ever 5K, which went well. All of my friends and I finished it and I ran/jogged the whole thing. I was happy with how it turned out, even though it was at the crack of dawn. We had to be there by 6:15am for the 7am start. (I rarely get out of bed before 10am except for the 1 or 2 days a week I open at work.) But it felt great to actually accomplish one of my New Year's goals, and we've already planned to do another 5K in May, and I will get my time down from the 34-ish minutes it took me.
My three day week ended in a concert night on 3/13 when I got to see New Kids On The Block (again). Technically this is the third time I've seen them in concert, since we saw them in Tampa a few months ago and I saw them at Joe Robbie Stadium in 1990! Another great show this time, especially since we went to Happy Hour at one of our favorite bars downtown, right near the arena. Plus our seats were on the floor and we ended up about 3 people back when they moved to their second stage at the back of the floor area for a set of four songs. I was so friggin' close to Joey McIntyre, it was fantastic! This is one of the pics I took without zooming in!!!

This past week's two day work week ended in my friend Emily's wedding. We've been friends for about 8 years now...she went to high school with my roomie Lauren, so I met Emily through her. She had a beautiful wedding in Sarasota, with her reception at this amazing estate called the Crosley Estate, right on the water of Sarasota Bay. We arrived for happy hour at the reception just as the sun was setting, and it was gorgeous! I imagined all the amazing photos that you talented photogs could take there.
So that's been my last month or so in a nutshell...action-packed! This week I actually have to work a full five days. Ugh. But then I'm seeing Kelly Clarkson perform at Mardi Gras at Universal Saturday night, then I have a whole week off for vacation! I took the week off since it's the girls' spring break from school. Bethany is going to Ireland with her parents, and I plan to accompany Lauren to Jacksonville to house/dog-sit for her parents while they're on a cruise. I am also looking into making a short trip to NYC to visit Adam in the midst of my vacation week. I've been wanting to see more of Europe, and my grandmother (an avid traveller and former travel agent) has suggested a cruise as a great way to see a lot in a short time. Plus, for someone like me who is a bit picky when it comes to eating, I can always get back on the ship and eat to my heart's content! I am so excited!!!

Next week I've got the Royal Family 5K, so I am really hoping to run most of it. I've worked my way up to running for 26 minutes straight, so I've got to be about there. I'm doing my training outside instead of at the gym so I'm used to all the outdoor elements. Granted, I'm still paying for the friggin' gym that I only get to once or twice a week, but I'm not ready to let go of it yet.

Work is work... they are starting Involuntary Separation Packages in the next few weeks, so everyone is on edge since nobody really knows how they make the decisions on who will be cut. It's kinda scary to think I could be unemployed in a month, but if it happens to me, that's my sign that it's time to find a new path. It's not like I want to be a disney manager for the rest of my life anyway. So we'll see...hopefully I don't get cut so I can pay for my cruise!

Congrats

A big congratulations to all you Gators on your national championship. I worked the night of the game, so I only caught the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. Just in the 20 minutes I watched, I found it ridiculous how in love with Tebow those announcers were. I seriously think they wanted to fall madly in love with him, move in together, and have a million Tebow babies. They couldn't stop talking about how amazing he is and what a great guy he is off the field...get a room for god's sake!

I am officially signed up for the Royal Family 5K in March! It was a long day with trying to do gifts for the boys mixed with ours. Blake has no real interest in unwrapping presents, which I find odd for a 2-year old. My brother unwrapped most of them, and Blake would pick and choose certain ones and run off to play. I think one of his faves was a kid sized Dirt Devil vacuum, since he is obsessed with my sister-in-law doing her vacuuming! So between doing stockings, the boys gifts from Santa, naps, and the family gifts, it was a long afternoon. But it was nice to spend time with the family.
I also spent some time with my cast member crush that I stalked on Facebook. But it all worked out since we ended up hanging out a few times. I even had a nice fresh hickey on Christmas Eve that I tried desperately to cover up at work. Ah, feeling like being 15 years old is good stuff. : ) Unfortunately, his program ends and he is leaving Florida this week, so it was fun while it lasted but it's back to the drawing board for me!
New Year's Eve ended up being fun. I worked until 11, and went to a friend's house with my roomie Lauren. Most of them were tipsy already, so luckily Lauren met me at my car as I parked with a beverage in hand. I caught up pretty fast through many rounds of flip cup. We had fun and I didn't get home until afer 3am, and had to work at 9am the next day. I'm getting too old for this kind of sillyness!
Looking forward to a great '09... Lauren and I plan to start training for a 5K (seems like a common goal around here!). We hope to do the Disney Princess 5K in March. I'm not a big fan of running, but I think with both Lauren and I motivating each other it will be much better. I hit the big 3-0 in June so I'd rather not look like a total slob for the milestone. : )
Other than that, all is well... I'm excited that shows are coming back this week from holiday repeats, and Scrubs and nip/tuck start up again. Also, Rock of Love Bus! Thank god for VH-1 and their trashy TV shows!!!

Christmas Cheer

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I love Christmas time.
I love getting a Christmas tree and decorating it all pretty.
I like shopping for friends and family, trying to be creative and get them something they'll really like, then watching their joy when they open it.
I enjoy holiday music, especially the good old Mariah 'Merry Christmas' album.
I love the crisp, cool weather that comes with this time of year, even if it does make me sometimes lose feeling in my fingertips.
I enjoy going to the parks and seeing the festive decor.
I appreciate good times with friends, eating lots of good food and laughing a lot.
Christmas is awesome!!!

On another note, to update what's up with me... I caught the flu bug that most of the Gallers family had (and another manager at work had), and threw up all day on Monday. It was the most horrible day ever, so thank god it was over in 24 hours. I joined Facebook. It wasn't so much the peer pressure as it was the preditating that I needed to do. One of my cast members is on it that I really, really want to make out with, so it gives me a good avenue to stalk him. : ) Had some friends over tonight for our Christmas gathering, which was lots of fun. I made peppermint brownie tarts, which almost put me into a diabetic coma, but they were so delicious! I'm now watching Anchorman on TBS even though I've seen it so many times...this movie is so fantastically ridiculously awesome!

Sometimes The Ends Justify The Mean

I seriously love The Office. Heading to Tennessee tomorrow for a few days of vacation in the Smoky Mountains. We have rented a cabin, have maps and detailed instructions from my parents who were just there last week, and have many many car snacks (my favorites- Combos, Corn Pops, and strawberry Gushers). We are leaving right after work tomorrow in our rented mini-van and will be in the Gatlinburg area through Tuesday. I'm excited, but frightened of the cold weather I'm about to face. I have lots of sweaters, a peacoat, and ski gloves (the only thing that keeps my fingers from going completely numb in temperatures below 65).
After the drive back to O-town on Tuesday, I will be heading down to good old Cooper City for T-giving, then back up to work on Friday. I am going to be VERY tired of the car!
So Happy Thanksgiving to everyone since I probably won't be posting before then. Here's a little piece of video I give thanks for, taken at the New Kids On The Block concert a few weeks ago...

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v20.nonxt1.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D7e1a0fcc596475b8%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331678147%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D3281B43039B7DC3FF34BD906725A7DA3DE905540.863524E9EDD21828976F057F14A453424076B18E%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D7e1a0fcc596475b8%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DmWhjaLwNEerVYbkECSFuOaALTsk&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Still Hangin' Tough...

I am so tired!!! I had a ridiculous weekend.

Friday we went to downtown Orlando to celebrate a friend's birthday, and of course it was Halloween so it was insane. I couldn't believe how packed it was. I am usually not a fan of downtown, but we went a little earlier and left by midnight before the real insanity started. And it was really entertaining to see all the creative costumes. Plus I got to meet our new President and First Lady!

Saturday we had a scavenger hunt at Disney for Bethany's birthday, which was fun. We were on three teams of 3, and had a long list of items to get and pictures to take. It ranged anywhere from a picture with an Asian family to mullet and fanny pack pictures. Most of us are pretty competitive, so we were pretty serious about getting as many points as possible. In the end, my Green Team won. Hooray! Some of our winning photos- us eating a turkey leg, at the Singin' In the Rain umbrella, and with our Dirty Sanchez moustaches!

Saturday night was the annual Halloween party we go to with lots of old friends from when we worked at the Movie Ride. Fun costumes, lots of candy...what's not to like? I feel like this Halloween has been a special expanded edition. I went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party a few weeks ago, so I got a good dose of fun there (and lots of free candy and cute kids in costume). Then we had our little Halloween Hive, which was super cute. At work, we are having our cast decorate Halloween bags to fill with candy, so I made one to put up also. It's the "Most Scary Halloween Bag Ever," and I cut out pictures of Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson's mug shot, Tom Cruise jumping on a couch, bald Britney Spears with an umbrella, Paris Hilton, and a few others to put on my bag. Pretty scary, huh?
Next weekend is my annual Halloween party that I go to. This year's theme is British, so my friends and I are going as the Spice Girls. The best parts of our group are that as Scary Spice, Bethany gets to go in black face, and that our Sporty Spice is my friend Clint, who will wear his beard and possibly a cut-off shirt to reveal his hairy chest. It will be great, I'm sure. I'll post pics afterward!
Also next weekend, I get to see the New Kids On The Block in Tampa!!! Hooray!!!!

I babysat my nephews last night while my bro and sis-in-law were at a wedding. I don't need to tell you guys this, but babies are exhausting! Blake went to sleep fine, but Colby (4.5 months now) was wide awake and not interested in going to sleep. Had a few bouts of screaming, but I covered all the bases (diaper change, hunger, gas) and finally got him to sleep. Just a few hours of that was plenty. I don't know how you guys do it!!! I guess it all pays off when you get to see them smile and laugh and watch them grow up. This is a recent pic of Colby and Blake all decked out in their Halloween garb...

Mish Mosh

Let's start with Thursday, when The Office returned to television...hurrah!!! It was a great episode filled with very funny moments. I love that Dwight and Angela are having a warehouse affair, that Phyllis knows about it and so is now the head of the Party Planning Committee, that Creed sold Kelly a fake tapeworm, Holly almost confessing that she thought Kevin was retarded, and of course the PB&J proposal! Such a glorious show. I need to find my own Jim Halpert!!!

Friday I went to see Nick Swardson do stand-up at Hard Rock Live. He was hilarious.
For those of you who don't know him, he's got a regular bit part on Reno 911 as Terry, the gay prostitute on roller skates (don't you want to watch the show now if you didn't?!?). He's a friend of Adam Sandler, so ends up in his movies a lot. He was a creepy funny stalker in Blades of Glory and a guy scared of the sun in The Benchwarmers. He talked a bit about Grandma's Boy, which is a stoner movie he was in, which I actually thought was pretty stupid. But otherwise, he was great.

Saturday we went to pay our final respects to Pleasure Island, since it was it's last night of existence.
It was the busiest I have ever seen it, and a few clubs were already at capacity when we got there just after 9pm. We ended up spending our evening in Motion, drinking and dancing the night away. I tried to be as good as possible since I knew I'd see at least a few of my cast members and probably most of my upper management from Downtown Disney wandering around the place. I did an alright job. I didn't get super drunk or do anything to endanger my job, so I would call that a success! I reminisced about all the great times I've had at Pleasure Island and it made me sad that it was going away, but if it's not making money I get it. There are other places to get my groove on, which I will certainly do!

Tick Tock

Wasting time as I watch the mostly lame Emmys (except for all the wins for 30 Rock and Jon Stewart!)...

Your real name: Megan

Gansta name (1st three letters of your real name plus izzle, favorite ice cream & Fav type of shoe): Megizzle Vanilla Cinnamon Flipflop

Native American name (fav color, fav animal): Green Dog

NASCAR name (1st names of grandfathers): George Everett

Dancer Name (Fav perfume/scent, fav candy): M Take Five

Soap Opera name (middle name, street you live on): Christine OspreyNest

Star Wars name (1st 3 letters of middle name, 1st 2 letters of first name): Chrme

TV Weather/Anchor name (5th grade teacher's last name, major city that starts with same letter): Becker Barcelona

Spy name (fav season, fav flower): Winter Sunflower

Cartoon name (Fav fruit, article of clothing you are wearing now): Strawberry Capri

Hippie name (what you ate for breakfast, fav tree): Banana Palm

Super Hero name (2nd fav color, fav drink): Purple DC

Witness protection name (parent's middle names): Joan David

Goth name (black, name of one of your pets): Black Rusty

Movie Star name (1st pet's name, 1st street name): Granola Fifteen

Rock Star name (first pet, current car): Granola Saturn

See, wasn't that fun? This show is crazy!!! I can't imagine staying sane with twin 6-year olds and SIX 3-year olds. The show is mesmerizing just to see how they function in a normal day.
I saw an old episode last night of when they took a trip to Disney, and it was amazing. Knowing what goes into setting things up for these filmings in the parks, I imagine those kids were super cranky. They did get to walk right on to every ride since they had Disney people with them everywhere, but still. Just potty breaks alone must take up half their day! I imagined our upcoming trip to Disney as being probably a bit like this episode. We may even rival them in number of children in our Hive group! Should be interesting...

So, my life is boring which is why I blog about TV. New shows start next week, although I at least have had 90210 and Gossip Girl for a few weeks now. I don't know if anyone else is as tween-ish as me, but those shows are like crack. Not so much 90210 for me...I don't think the new version is that great so far, but I'm giving it a shot.
Anyway, I am doing fun things besides TV. I went out drinking and dancing downtown last weekend, which was fun except for not getting hit on. : ) I am going to see Nick Swardson at Hard Rock Live next week, then Joel McHale the next week, then Hive the following week...lots of fun coming up!!!

Shred It

I keep reading all of these blogs about you dedicated people competing to lose weight, and I must say that I am impressed. I was on a good schedule of going to the gym 3 days a week, then I got a cold that lingered for about three weeks, which pushed me right out of my gym rhythm. But now I'm feeling better, so it's time to get back into the groove. Thanks for the inspiration!
I bought a workout video a while back called 30 Day Shred, by Jillian Michaels. I don't watch The Biggest Loser, but I guess she's one of the trainers. It's a great video because it's only a 20 minute workout, but really works everything. It uses the circuit method with 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, then 1 minute of abs. Plus, there are three levels, so once you get good at level one, you can move up to level two and it's a whole new challenging workout. I've done it sporadically since I bought it, and finally did level two yesterday, and I am sore today! Anyway, if you are looking for a great quick workout, I highly recommend it.

On another note, I'm so glad that Tropical Storm Fay is gone. Not only did I not get a day off from work, but it was ridiculously busy at DisneyQuest all week. Everyone wanted to do something indoors since the weather was so nasty. What I don't get is how the guests got so pissy about us being busy, as though nobody would think to come inside. Oh well. Thankfully it's getting to a slower time of year! Here's one good thing that came of T.S. Fay - a great gathering at my place. Since my roomies are teachers and they had the day off, we invited another teacher friend Clint over and drank hurricanes and did makeovers. We all looked super glamorous. Check out the results:I know you're jealous of our hot looks. Here's a few of mine off the top of my head:
1. Teen Pop music...including 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney, Ashlee Simpson, Avril Lavigne, most American Idols, Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan (!!!), and many random European pop groups.
2. Entenmann's glazed pop 'ems donuts.
3. VH-1 reality shows, the newest being I Love Money.
4. Celebrity gossip.
5. Saying things that are politically incorrect.
6. Kelly videos on You Tube (ohmygod Shoes!...and muffins!)
7. Bridezillas.
8. Gossip Girl.
9. Shopping at H&M (whenever I get the chance).
10. Disney Channel Original movies. (Can't wait for HSM3, in theaters in October!)

In regards to #10, I watched Camp Rock last night on Disney Channel. It was cute, although not as good as the High School Musicals. The lead girl had a good voice, and is apparently the next Disney cash cow. I think she looks a lot like a young Angelle... what do you think?
Feel free to share your guilty pleasures so I don't feel totally lame. : )

Double B'Day Weekends

So my first b'day weekend was pretty good. Downtown was skeevy, as expected. The group we were with was interested in not much more than drinking, so we went to bars with no dancing. The last place we went had a dance floor, but they were playing thumping house music, and I can't really enjoy that. I like music I know and can sing along to. Why can't everywhere play the train?!? Then to top it off, I was driving me and my super-drunk roomie Lauren home, and of course we wanted Happy Meals. (What else do you want after a night out than a delicious hambuger happy meal?) I pull up to the drive thru and order, and suddenly the voice says "No happy meal. Sorry lady. We getting ready for breakfast." So just as an FYI- McDonald's switches to breakfast at 3am, so if you go just before that, you get nothing!
On my actual b'day, I went to the mall and did some good sale shopping. I enjoy shopping alone so I can be on my own schedule. That night we went to dinner on the Boardwalk, then walked into Epcot to see the fireworks. I also rode the newly redesigned Spaceship Earth. It's cute.

Birthday weekend number two was even better. I hadn't been to the new karaoke bar at City Walk yet, so we planned an outing. It was me, Lauren, our friends Janice, Dan, and John, and then the sexy Melbourne trio (Nikki, Keri, and Erica). We had such a good time. It's not just a regular karaoke experience...it has a huge stage with a host, live band, and backup singers. It is pretty intimidating, even to a regular karaoke-er (I guess that's how you'd say it?). It's fun just to see the people get on stage who think they're awesome. Some of them turn out to be pretty good, and others not so much. After some schmoozing with the DJ by Erica, I finally got called to come up and sing around 1am (I put my song in at 9pm!). I sang (surprise!) "Just A Girl." It was fun, but crazy...you can't see much with all the lights on the stage, and I couldn't hear myself at all, so I may have sucked big time. Of course, nobody told me that, so in my head I did pretty good! After City Walk, Lauren and I did get our Happy Meals this time, so I was very content.
Sunday I went over to my friend Cindy's for a soccer party to watch Germany play Spain in the Euro Finals. Unfortunately, being German it didn't end so well. But it was still fun. Then on Monday I saw WALL-e, which was so cute. I agree with Mike that any fan of Pixar movies will love this. I found myself tearing up a few times during the movie, which is retarded because it's an animated movie about a robot, but that Pixar knows how to do it to me!
Random note: For those of you who haven't heard, Disney announced on Friday that they are closing all the clubs at Pleasure Island in September. They're moving foward with a new "vision" for Downtown Disney, so they'll be putting in more shops and restaurants. No specifics yet, but I will keep you updated if I hear anything. So say goodbye to PI!

What's It Gonna Be?

Happy Birthday Weekend to me (and Erica)! I have to work tomorrow, but am going out dancing tomorrow night downtown. I'm not a huge fan of downtown Orlando (kinda skeevy), but we are meeting a few friends that are downtown regulars, so I'm sure we'll have fun. Not sure what I'm doing on my birthday proper, but probably going to Epcot in the afternoon and having dinner somewhere in the vicinity, then watching fireworks. It's pretty fun to pretend to have a fireworks display put on just for your birthday celebration.

I don't have any videos of kids doing cute things, so I will share one of my favorite videos that I found on funnyordie.com, a fabulous site. This song is not safe for work or young ears! But it's f'ing awesome. Hopefully your kids are giving you 'props' today for being 'off the chain'. You deserve numerous props.
Here's a few reasons that my Dad deserves props:
1. He knows how to fix a lot of things, like various household items and my car.
2. He helped put a down payment on Stella, my current car.
3. He always knows the answers.
4. He puts up with my sometimes insane mom.
5. He helped support me through college, always sneaking me gas money on my trips home.
6. When I would call home crying about something, he could always calm me down, using his phrase "take it slow and easy."
7. He taught me how to appreciate and shoot a gun!
8. He sacrifices his time to help run his late father's business.
9. He uses his handy-man skills to help out his mother and other family members when they need it.
10. He helped raise me, and look how great I turned out!!!
Side note: I was SO mad when my dad shaved off his moustache. I didn't talk to him for a few days. I guess I couldn't handle the change, but now I am very glad he made it!

So Happy Father's Day everyone! I loved the show so much and still watch repeats on TV even though I have all the seasons on DVD. We planned to go see the movie on Friday, opening night. We lined up outside our theater 45 minutes before the movie so we'd get good seats. The movie started, the theater cheered, and I was so happy. And then...disaster. About 40 minutes in, the film broke. The lights came up, and the women got angry. The poor theater manager came in and said it would be 10-15 minutes to fix it. 30 minutes later, the movie started again, but a little farther than where we'd left off. Again, the women were beside themselves, yelling "Rewind! Rewind!" About ten minutes go by, and the movie goes out again. Repeat crazed women. Finally, after the third time the movie went out, the manager told the theater that was it, they weren't going to be able to fix it. As we exited, we heard various women yelling at the manager... "We had to get a babysitter! How will you compensate us for that?" The lines at Guest Services were very long and full of emotional, aggravated, and dejected SATC lovers. We were pretty disappointed, but figured being nice to the man at Guest Services would increase our chances of getting more compensation. We ended up getting a refund plus two free movie tickets each, so it worked out.

I went Saturday night to try again, and was able to see the movie all the way through. (Plus I went to pee in the middle and didn't miss anything since I'd already seen that part! Bonus!) Of course I loved it. I had to hold back a few sobs because I'm a sucker for a good love story. It was a very well made movie and had great funny moments (involving poop, which always gets a thumbs up from me) and plenty of drama. Plenty of crazy outfits, and a stunning, flowing wedding gown I would love to have. This pic doesn't do it justice, but it was so pretty and probably only works on someone built like SJP, but I still love it! So, I give the movie two thumbs up and highly recommend it to all ladies and gay men, plus any boyfriend/husband that gets dragged along.

I'm watching the MTV Awards right now and Johnny Depp just won his second award. He is so dreamy! I can't help but think that I could be there with him right now, cheering him on. If I hadn't moved in 5th grade, I would have gone to high school with him, and we would have dated, fell in love, and lived happily ever after. His life without me must feel so empty!
Final note: I love Rainn Wilson.

Playing Catch Up

I haven't posted in two weeks so I guess I'll catch up...
Went on a date with a guy I met on eharmony last week and have plans to go out again tomorrow. It went well, we had dinner and sat and talked for like 5 hours. He's nice and funny, so we will see how it goes. I'm not getting too excited about anything since the last guy I met turned out to be such a douche. I got too enthralled too fast last time, so I won't do that again.
My parents were visiting my brother last weekend, so I went over to hang out, even though I didn't even know about the visit until the day before. I don't factor into visits since I don't have a kid I guess. It was nice to see them, and I talked to my dad a lot about new cars. I finish paying for my car in October, so of course I am already jonesing for a new car. I think it will be between a Pontiac G6 and a Toyota Scion coupe. We will see how long I can hold out! In other news, my new nephew is scheduled to be born on June 4th, so we're getting close!
Work is going fine...hard to believe I've been at DisneyQuest for six months. I am working on our ten year anniversary celebration, which is on June 19th. It's good because it brings me back to those days of planning events. I miss doing that, so I'm keeping my eyes out on the Job postings. I know that I don't want to be a Guest Service Manager forever, so I have to keep looking!
Okay, gotta go make myself a PB&J with all this sandwich talk everyone's having!

Kiss Her...Kiss Her Good

Let me start by saying Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms I know. It's great to be able to keep up with your families by reading your blogs. I've learned so much from you all, I feel like you are all preparing me for the eventual day that I become a mom. You're all excellent role models because you are all AMAZING moms. Hope you all got mad props today. : )
I spent my Mother's Day taking a trip to the gym and then to see Iron Man. I wasn't really pumped to see the movie since I knew nothing of the Iron Man character, but the reviews have all been so positive, I gave it a shot. It turned out to be really good! Robert Downey Jr was great, as was Gwenyth Paltrow. Overall a very entertaining movie that I would recommend to any of you that get a chance to see it. I have also recently seen Baby Mama and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which are both quite good as well. I'm a fan of both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler...30 Rock is hysterical, and Amy was awesome in Blades of Glory. And Forgetting Sarah Marshall was actually more of a cute story than I expected. I pretty much will see anything that Judd Apatow creates, since he appeals to the 13-year old boy side of me. Plus Kristen Bell is in it, and she is Veronica Mars! One of the greatest shows ever to be cancelled!
Speaking of great shows, I'm sad that The Office finale is already this week. At least it's an hour episode. Will Jim really pop the question? I've loved his fake-outs the last few episodes. This past week's episode wasn't my favorite of the season, but I enjoyed Andy's nasty blistered hands and Michael's ridiculous speech at the job fair. And of course, when Jim and Pam had their major makeout and Michael had to creep it out by staring at them and stating "Kiss her...kiss her good." So awkward! I love it!

Sickness and Turkey (totally unrelated)

Being sick is lame. It started with a nasty, hacking cough..sounded like I had a smoking addiction. That went on for about 10 days before it got worse two days ago. That's when my throat and glands started swelling up and I was super fatigued. I finally opted to go to the doctor yesterday to find out I have bronchitis. Fabulous. But I feel so much better since yesterdays drugs began. They gave me the wonderful Z-pack to get rid of the infection, and it is already working wonders. I may actually be able to stay awake longer than a few hours today. Yay for drugs!

So with all of Mike's lists, I felt inspired to make one of my own. I thought, what do I know a lot about and can make a good list of? Then I knew...

5 Best Turkey Sandwiches-

1. Publix deli made w/Boar's Head - they are fresh, delicious, and just how you want it
2. my own creation at home - Boar's Head ovengold turkey, sharp cheddar cheese, rye bread
3. Earl of Sandwich - All American with no ranch, no cranberries
4. Quizno's - mmm, toasty
5. Subway - their bread makes it good, I enjoy Honey Oat

So there it is...off the top of my head. I have had many, many turkey sandwiches in my life, so I'm sure I'm forgetting some. I just love turkey!!!

Another Baby That's Not Mine...

Sorry it's taken me a few days to get this info up...I know you were all on the edge of your seats when I was on Baby Watch this weekend! I spent Saturday night at the hospital, hoping my friend Aida would have her baby. One nurse promised she'd have it by midnight, so we were getting excited. Then midnight came and went without much change. Three other women on the floor had gone into labor, so the staff was busy and didn't want to push Aida along any faster.
Got a call from Aida's husband Mike around 7am that they were finally going to start pushing. After three hours of pushing, they decided to do a C-section. I can imagine how pissed Aida was, since she'd stated earlier in the night that she wanted them to just cut that thing out already! So Natalie Victoria was finally born on Sunday, April 20 around 1pm. She weighed in at 8 lbs and 20 inches long. Here's a pic I took on Monday before she started hysterically crying...
She's a beautiful baby and mommy's doing great. They took her home yesterday and are getting used to their new life without sleep. Aida says that Natalie is a nocturnal baby, so they are having fun with that. Thanks to all of you for checking in to see how things went. I wish I could have stuck around Melbourne for the beach...I love all the pics I've seen. I have so many favorites from Erica's site that I can't even pick...Halle's 'rockstar' picture, Mike and his girls, the pic of Ella in her white hoodie (looks like a pic that comes in the store-bought frames!) and especially the big pic of all the kids together on the beach- love it!!! It was great to see you all and I look forward to a more extended visit in October for Hive!

Mariah Mania!

I hope you're all prepared for Mariah Mania, because it's sweeping the nation. She was on Oprah yesterday looking quite lovely, and she will be the mentor on American Idol tonight and perform tomorrow night on the results show. I'm also jamming out to the new album, which came out today. It's great, but what did you expect me to say about it?
On another note, I am happy that shows are back on TV...I really do enjoy television. That doesn't make me lame that I like TV, it's just entertaining! Two to watch if you haven't: One, Eli Stone on ABC - great show! And many references to George Michael music, which is fun. And two, My Big Redneck Wedding on CMT. It's so trashy, but awesome to see what these people do at their weddings.
That's about it for me...my life is not really that exciting. I'm looking forward to visiting my peeps in Melbourne on Saturday!!!

The Big Apple!

Ahh, another vacation over and it's back to reality for me. Boo. This one went quick, but we did a lot in a short amount of time. This was my second time to NYC, so I am certainly no expert, but I recognized a lot of places so I had a pretty good sense of direction. We arrived Sunday morning and jumped right into it. We had booked one of those hop on/off bus tours to tour the city. I recommend it to anyone who goes for the first time- you see a lot and learn about everything you pass. And when you get off at one of the stops, there will be another bus in 15 minutes so you don't get stuck somewhere too long. We experienced Little Italy, Chinatown, and Ground Zero, which was tough for me. There's nothing really there, just the memorial being built behind fences, but we went into the church right in front of it, where many of the rescuers rested between shifts during the recovery effort. There were memorials and pictures inside the church, along with lots of tissues. I really can't handle it emotionally, the whole thing is so heartbreaking.

Onto happier things...our hotel was a block south of Central Park and about 5 blocks north of Times Square, so we were in a great location. We took a night tour of the city, which was beautiful. I got this cool pic from Brooklyn of the city skyline...it was tough since it was so dark, but I think it came out pretty good. (I mean, I'm no Erica...)
We did a Movie/TV Site Tour, which was really interesting. We went all around the city to see where famous movies and TV shows had been filmed, and then on the bus they showed us clips from the movies so we could put it all together. We took a pic on the steps of the Cosby's house, saw the Friends apartment building, and visited the rice pudding shop featured in a scene from the movie Hitch (yes, random...but it was a fun place that featured this funny sign...) Another sign in the shop read: "Eat as much as you want, you're already fat." It was awesome. Too bad I can't stand rice pudding.

We ate our fanciest meal at Tao, a trendy hot spot where we were hoping to spot celebrities. Unfortunately I found no celebs, but Mr. Adam Robbins did join us, so that was good enough for me. We did a lot of walking in the city, through Central Park, visited the Museum of Natural History, shopped at H&M (my favorite store!!!), walked some more, and ate at Serendipity and had delicious frozen hot chocolate.
Our last day was my favorite. It started out with a taping of the Maury show, which was so trashy but great. The topic was 'Out of Control Teens', so we got to do a lot of booing and groaning. Maury also had Harvey from Celebrity Fit Club on to yell at the kids, so that was pretty sweet too. From trash to class, we went to the theater and saw Mary Poppins, which I LOVED. I have now seen 3 Disney Broadway musicals, and this was definitely my favorite. It was so magical! So entertaining and well made- all the actors were amazing, all the songs were great, and I teared up quite a few times. I mean, freakin' Bert tap dances on the ceiling! That's magic!!!
Oh, and our hotel was a half a block away from the Carnegie Deli, so we sang about it every time we walked by, and eventually ate there. Here's a pic of the biggest turkey sandwich I have EVER gotten in my life (and there are two halves)...
Shout out to the jews: Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli? Bowser from ShaNaNa and Arthur Fonzerelli! (and me, a quarter-jew!)
A great vacation...I could never live in that city, though. It is way too fast-paced, I think I'd be stressed and in a hurry all the time. This cast just doesn't do much for me. If it's a host I'm interested in, maybe. I think Justin Timberlake should host every week. He is frickin' funny! Just as I was thinking that nobody watches SNL anymore, it was on the cover of my new Entertainment Weekly that it's still the country's go-to source for political satire. Hmm. Well, okay. I prefer Jon Stewart, but whatever. If it means that you saw this weekend's SNL featuring the fabulous Mariah then it's all good! Mariah took over since Janet Jackson got the flu and canceled her appearance. MC was awesome and it got me all fired up for the new album, which is out April 15 (they keep changing the date and it's driving me crazy). So, uh...I'm excited for the album. I don't know if you can tell.
Never did hear back from Doug, so I decided to send him a text message since I was still pissed about him being such a jerk. My text said: 'Hope you become a man in the future and can actually tell a girl you're not interested instead of just ignoring her. Good luck.' I felt better after sending it, and he replied shortly after with: 'I know. Sorry.' Boys are so worthless!!!
Went out downtown last night, which was fun...we went to a club that was having ladies night, so I drank free until midnight, and they were playing all 80's and 90's music, mixed in with some current hits. It was awesome. We hit the McDonald's drive thru at 2am, and I had the best french fries ever. It's nice to have some fun nights out on the town with the ladies!

Oh Well...

When I like a guy and I think it may develop into something, I'm usually pretty reluctant to tell anyone about it. I always feel like if I tell people, that may curse it and then I'm stuck answering questions about what happened. Well, here we go again.
After our great Valentine's night, I texted with Doug once that weekend (he was away). And...that's it. Haven't heard from him since. Awesome. Eventually, last weekend I sent him a message on myspace that said 'haven't heard from you in a while so I'm guessing that means you're not interested in hanging out with me, which is fine. I just wish you would have let me know so I didn't have to wonder why you didn't call.' He has been on myspace since but has not even read the message. WTF!?! Be a man, get some balls and at least tell me you're not into me. It just aggravates me so much that he couldn't have the decency to tell me, and instead just stops calling. Why can't I just find a nice man that wants to call me?

On a happier note, I'm going on vacation soon! Planning a trip to New York City from March 30 - April 2. I've only been once so I'm excited to go back and see some of the things I missed, and of course take in a Broadway show or two. We've booked tickets to Mary Poppins (or 'Poppin Beans' as Leah would say), which was my first choice. I didn't know that we can get tickets through the Disney company- they reserve tickets for employees for each performance, so we will be sitting close, most likely in the first ten rows! We are also figuring out what kind of tours we'd like to do. We will probably do the NBC Tour and there's also a film/tv tour that shows you lots of famous spots used in movies and tv shows. I will also be spending some time in Central Park...maybe I will even re-enact the song and dance scene from Enchanted. If so, I will get some footage, don't you worry!

I Best Not Catch This Flick On YouTube...

What a lovely week I have had...
Started on Tuesday with the release of Mariah's new single to radio, so of course I had found it online within a few hours and listened to it repeatedly. It's called "Touch My Body" and it's my new jam, peeps! It's a pretty sexy song and includes the line 'if there's a camera up in here I best not catch this flick on YouTube'. You tell 'em Mariah, it's private time in your bedroom! Anyway, I kinda love Mariah and can't wait to hear more from the new album, which doesn't come out until April 15. Boo!

Work was fun this week, as it always is when I work with the right people. My partner in crime at work, Dan, has the same sense of humor as me so we have a blast together. We laugh at the most ridiculous things and act like total children, but it's awesome. We had fun filling our cast member's Valentine's bags with candy, since they all sucked up to get more candy from me.

V-Day started off with getting to see the adorable Belle and Corgan when I got the fam into Animal Kingdom. I seriously haven't seen Belle in person since she was like 6 months old I think. She's frickin' adorable, and I love that she is a big 'Hot Dog' fan- that song is catchy!
After work I rushed home to get prettied up since I had plans with a boy. Yay! It's been many, many Valentine's Days since that has happened. Doug picked me up and we went to the Osceola County Fair (he hadn't been to a fair for years). It was so much fun!!! He got to experience a pig race and try kettle corn for the first time. Some people are so deprived! We rode a few rides, including his pick, the Haunted Mansion, which was the lamest/most awesome fair ride ever. H was all about fair games, so we played a few. I busted a balloon and won a shirt of my choice- I went with the super classy "Hump and Dump" shirt (I let Doug keep it!). We left the fair and went to Friday's to hang out and have a few drinks. He came up to the apartment and hung out for a while before heading home around 1am. I had such a great night!

Ended up going back to the fair on Sunday with a few friends, which was also fun. We usually go every year to the fair, since it's got pig racing, terribly unhealthy foods, and scary unsafe rides. It's also a great place to people watch. Only the classiest people go to the county fair! Next for me is the Strawberry Festival, which I'm going to on the 29th! Yessssss!

You Know I'm Bad, I'm Bad...

So my new friend Douglas (the previously mentioned man from my last post) invited me and my friends to a concert on Thursday night downtown. It was a band called Who's Bad--a Michael Jackson cover band. It was SO much fun!!! The band was great and sounded awesome. The lead singer even dressed up like MJ with his white shirt, black hat, and finger bandages. He also had some pretty sweet moves. My roomie Lauren is a big MJ fan, so she was going crazy. We danced and sang along and had a really fun night. The bonus was that Douglas and all his friends were there, so I got to hang out with him again. (We went out just the two of us a week and half ago and had a great time!) He and his friends are crazy, so we all got along great. Hopefully I will get to hang with him more soon because he is super fun and we get along really well! I'm trying not to be a crazy girl about it, but of course I am. Why are we like this? Any time there is a potential man in the picture, we immediately jump on the crazy train. It's silly.

Anyway, not much else to report. Just working and trying to calm the crazy! Wish me luck!

Hello 2008!

Happy New Year! I am hoping for an exciting and fun '08. Some updates...

I got statused at DisneyQuest as a manager, so I don't have to worry about where I'm going back to or what my next job will be. I'm happy to be there, because I like my team a lot. Some of the cast are on the verge of retardation, but they make things entertaining. It's not a forever job, but it's a good place to be until I figure out my next step.

My friends and I are already planning our next trip- this time a spring trip to New York City. I've only been there once, and didn't get to see everything I wanted to. I didn't see the Statue of Liberty or walk through Central Park, so I've got some things to accomplish! I've started looking at dates and Broadway tickets- I really want to see Mary Poppins. It's fun to have a trip to plan!

I don't want to jinx it, but I am working on getting myself a man. I joined eHarmony a few months ago to see what's out there. I'm not big on going out and meeting guys, so I thought it would be a good thing to try. I've been talking to a guy for a few weeks and we've gotten to the 'open communication' stage, and so I sent him my number and we chatted last night. Hopefully we will go out soon- he's gonna call me in a few days. Cross your fingers!

OCD

After reading Erica's post about the random things that get stuck in her head, I figured I'd reveal my unnecessary OCD tendency. I count random things in my head all the time. I count stairs when I'm walking up and down flights (17 to my apartment, 18 in the parking garage at the Studios), how many steps it takes to get to my car (depends on where I'm parked), and the weirdest one: how many slices of banana go into my cereal (25). It's so very random, I know. Especially since it's not everything or every time I walk somewhere, although it is every morning I have my Honey Nut Cheerios! So there you have it, airing my dirty laundry.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season...it's Christmas Eve Eve, so Santa is on his way soon! I have to work a few hours tomorrow then am headed to Cooper City for two days, then it's back to work. It's fine, since two days is about all I can handle at home before my mom drives me crazy. I'm excited that my bro and sis-in-law are coming down with Blake. Also, they're expecting another baby and just found out it's another boy, so bring on the testosterone! I will leave you with this cute pic of Blake with Santa!

Merry Christmas!!!

Things About Me

I'm late on this, but I saw it on Erica's page and thought it would be fun to do. I am all about a mindless post filling out random questions. Let's go!

1. What is in the back seat of your car right now?
My windshield sun shade and some anti-bacterial wipes.

2. When was the last time you threw up?
It was a long time ago...last time I can remember was after my friend's wedding and I had waaay too much to drink. What’s your favorite curse word?
I say the f word or some form of it way too often

4. Name 3 people who made you smile today?
My roomies Bethany and Lauren, and my nephew Blake when I saw his pic with Santa!

5. Do you drink your soda from a straw or a bottle?
I prefer my soda out of a fountain, therefore I drink through a straw. What does your last text message say?
that I sent or received? hmm...got one that said 'we're not going to the movie'...how exciting!

26. My last post was way too long ago, so I'll do a brief recap...
I got a temporary management position at DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney, which is a 5 floor building filled with virtual/interactive games. It has tons of old school video games like Donkey Kong, Frogger, and Burger Time. When I "walk the building", which is what I do a few times each shift as a manager, I try to play at least one game of skeeball and a few rounds on my new favorite game, Flamin' Finger. (FF is a touch screen that has a big maze on it...you drag your finger across the screen through the maze as music blares and time ticks away, faster as you get toward the end of the maze. It gets my heart going and when you finish before time runs out, fireworks go off on the screen and it applauds you for being the champion. It's pretty awesome.) Anyway, I'm there through February and then potentially go back to the Studios events team. Not sure what my future holds, but I've realized doing this job that being an attractions manager is not for me... it's pretty monotonous, and I like to feel like I'm using my brain, not just babysitting cast members.

The exciting part of November was my trip to Scotland! My roomies Bethany, Lauren, and I went for a week. The flights were exhausting (with stops in DC and London before ending up in Edinburgh), but we had a lot of fun. Our Bed and Breakfast was amazing and very close to the main areas in Edinburgh. The official Scottish breakfast the girls had is below (I had cereal).A bonus for our B&B was that it was run by a super hot 28 year old named David. Mmmm. We were kind of obsessed with him. We had lots of conversations about sometimes inappropriate things, but he was fun and helped us a lot when it came to planning what to do. Here he is ... We did a lot in Edinburgh - walked up and down the Royal Mile, toured the Edinburgh Castle (the view from the top of the castle is the pic below) and the Palace of Holyrood (where the Queen stays when she's in Scotland), went to many museums, saw the tea house where Harry Potter was written, learned all about how whisky is made on a whisky tour, and I got to shop at my favorite clothing store, H&M. It got dark around 4pm, which was very strange and made us want to go to bed super early, but we sort of got used to it by the end of the week. Also, all the stores close by 5 or 6pm except on Thursdays, so we had to do any shopping earlier in the day. I guess they want you to focus on drinking at the bazillion pubs at night. It's cheaper to drink beer than soda, and very difficult to find Coke products since apparently it's one of the only countries in the world that Coke is not the #1 selling soda. Sometimes a girl just needs a Diet Coke!!!
We took a day tour to Loch Lommond (Loch is just a fancy word for lake) and Stirling Castle, and another day tour to the Highlands and Loch Ness. Unfortunately, we did not see the Loch Ness Monster, but in our hearts she is in there (I point out where I think she is below). We took the train to Glasgow for a day, which is the more 'cultural' city in Scotland, but not nearly as pretty as Edinburgh. This was the prettiest place we visited in Glasgow, a cathedral that withstood the Reformation and has been around since the 1000's! On our Thanksgiving, it was actually the start of the Christmas festival in Edinburgh, so we watched the opening of that which was fun. We rode a huge ferris wheel and wandered through a German Christmas market.
The weather wasn't great while we were there, which is why this is the off season. It hovered around 40-ish, and was mostly overcast. It was misty rainy a few days, but never full on poured. We finally saw the sun the day before we left...it was glorious. I was pretty much cold the whole trip, since I am definitely a Florida girl and can't handle temperatures below 65 very well. I look like a cow in most photos since I have so many layers on. Speaking of cows, the cow below is Hamish, who is a Highland coo. (They call them coos, not cows, which made us giggle. When we did, our tour guide said "You haven't experienced Scotland until you've seen a hairy coo." Done and done!)

Overall it was a great trip and we met so many great people. All the Scots are so happy that people choose to visit their country, and they're so helpful and friendly. Plus their accents are so fun to listen to and kilts rock!

A Busy October

October has been busy for me, hence the lack of posts.
There was the Gallers visit, which was a lot of fun. Leah is old enough to enjoy Disney a bit more, so it was fun to see her a bit mesmerized by some things. I think that's one of the best things about working at Disney...seeing the amazement in kids' eyes when they see their favorite character or hundreds of tiny dolls singing 'it's a small world'. The next week was another week of Disney parks and going out with two friends in from Arkansas.
Then there was this week, the bad one. My dad called on Friday night to tell me that my grandfather had passed away. He'd been recovering from two broken vertebrae in his neck and had gotten pneumonia. The doctors thought he was doing well, but he just sorta faded away on Friday. I think he knew that he'd be living in a lot of pain with the neck brace, so figured now would be a good time to bow out. (Either that or he couldn't bear to see how much worse the Miami Dolphins would get.) Pop was a wonderful guy...he taught me to love horses as a kid, introduced me to the world of the arts and theater, and found my family the best dog ever, Rusty. I spent the last 3 days at home with the family, and everyone's doing pretty well. He will definitely be missed. Every time I watch the Pixar chess short, I will think of Pop. I think they used him as inspiration for the character...
To end this post on a happier note, I did get to visit IKEA before I left South Florida. Ours in Orlando doesn't open for a few weeks, so I got a jump start. I don't think I can express how much I love that store. I can't wait to have a house so I can deck it out with everything IKEA!

I Heart Jim

It's true, I'm kind of obsessed with The Office. I own all the seasons on DVD, yet I still look forward to the old episodes that TBS is showing every Tuesday night. The theme song is my ring tone. I could watch episodes repeatedly and still laugh, and I look forward to Thursday nights for new episodes.
And now others are fueling my obsession! First, Entertainment Weekly put the cast on the cover and did an in depth story on the show. And now, Target has joined in. For those of you who love Target like I do, you visit 'the one spot' on a fairly regular basis. Well, currently in the one spot is tons of Office stuff! There are pens, pencils, magnets, pads of paper, post-its, mugs... it was like a jackpot of hilarity. You should stop whatever you're doing right now and go to Target. Go!!!

Job Frustrations

I really enjoy my job...working with film crews from everywhere and planning park events is fun and always has interesting challenges. I've been in the Events department for almost 4 years as a Coordinator, and since March I've been in a temporary role as a Manager in the department. Now there is a full-time Manager position available, since the guy I've been backfilling is not coming back. Obviously, I would like the position.
But my boss told me yesterday that I'm not getting it. His justification is totally ridiculous and pisses me off. He said that he wants someone that's more like the guy that's leaving, who is super focused on our cast and developing people. Granted, he is great at that and made some good "magic" speeches to our cast members. But it sort of helps to have a friggin' idea of what you're doing in your actual job. Anyone can be sappy and magical and all that crap, but I have the experience to succeed in the job. It's so political and stupid.
So at the end of October I will go back to being a Coordinator, and start trying to get out as soon as possible! I am in the Attractions Management 'pool', so any area in any park that needs managers will interview from those of us in the 'pool'. So I will hope for something to happen from that quickly. I need to work for a leader that will actually support me.
Although, I got sucked into a repeat of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition yesterday, and they were helping a family that has 2 HIV positive kids. They go to this camp for kids infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and I found myself really wanting to be involved. I guess I just feel like my job doesn't really have a great purpose...I want to feel like I'm contributing more than I am. Maybe it's just a rough patch, but I have definitely been browsing through monster to see what kind of meaningful jobs are out there!

Random Monday Thoughts

Okay, so I'm surrounded by Gator fans on this site, but I have to take a moment to give some props to my alma mater. UCF, in their fancy new stadium, was darn close to upsetting the #6 team in the nation on Saturday. If the lame-o Dolphins are going to suck it hardcore this season, I may have to turn my attention to rooting for the Knights!

After reading Keri's entry about TV, then watching the Emmys last night, I am so pumped for the new season of shows! I probably watch way too much television and should get out and meet some men instead of sitting on the couch, but what the hell. TV is so good! Here's a week in my TV watching--Heroes, Ugly Betty, 30 Rock, The Office, Scrubs, Desperate Housewives. Then there's The Daily Show, The Soup, and Best Week Ever. Then American Idol when it comes back on. Plus whatever new shows I watch this fall. Good thing we have DVR.

I guess I have to answer these questions because I read Erica and Angelle's answers, therefore I am "tagged". I'm still getting used to this blog thing and don't fully understand it all, but I can certainly answer a few simple questions...
1. Lying down on the couch, or stretching out on a recliner? Couch since we don't have a recliner, but I'm all about that when it's an option.

2. Going barefoot or wearing soft slippers? Usually socks or some form of slipper at home because my toes are always freezing due to my terrible circulation.

3. Eating ice cream, or pizza? Uh, pizza. Angelle and Erica, you're wrong. : )

4. Watching on TV…a classic movie or a reality show? Reality show

5. Wearing: blue jeans or sweat pants? I couldn't live without jeans!

6. A long, soothing bubble bath or a quick, invigorating shower? shower... baths are nice for a few minutes but then it gets cold and I have time to judge my body and that's not soothing.

7. Furniture: leather, or something more on the fuzzy side? Something fuzzy sounds classier than leather. And I agree with Angelle, leather is not so pleasant in the heat (so why do I have leather seats in my car??!?).

8. Soft, classical music, or upbeat rock & roll? Preferably some form of pop, but rock 'n roll over classical.

9. Darkness or light? Depends on when and where.

10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You get married, or otherwise begin cohabitating with a significant other. S/he moves into your place, but brings with them the UGLIEST chair you have ever seen! You really don’t want this thing in your home, but SO says it is the most comfy chair s/he has ever sat in, and no way will they part with it. Do you: grin and bear it, or scheme to get rid of the montrosity somehow?
There has to be some compromise.. if it really is comfy, then it will need some sort of cover. Sounds like a fun arts and crafts project!

I'm Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC...

Okay, so my roomies and I really like To Catch A Predator. It's really ridiculous the lies these men try to create as they get caught trying to meet underage girls. Just accept that fact that you've been caught and there's no way out now. It's disgusting and sickening, but is riveting television.

So for Lauren's birthday party, we made everyone come dressed as their fave predator, or at least bring the props of a predator. Some were more creative than others, but it was a fun night. Having survived 16 of your shows in 4 days (all of them identical), I am glad you're finished and moving on. I just don't understand why kids (and parents) are so obsessed with you. You look like freaks with your crazy colored skin and fat fingers. I very rarely made it through a whole show without wanting to slit my wrists. I would have maybe been okay had you sung the one song of yours I do enjoy, Wobbly Woopsie. Now that's a good catchy tune.
Luckily, I didn't get screamed at by guests like the last time you were here and Moe was too "sick" to do a show that was filled to capacity. This time went smoothly and all the guests love you, some of them lining up at 6:30am to get show tickets! I just don't get it! But hey, I lived through it and I won't have to see you again (until maybe next year).
Goodbye Doodlebops!!!
Love, Megan

My Fancy Header...

Big ups to Mikey G for my fabulous new header. I was jealous of everyone else's fun ones so he helped create one that's a little more me. Thanks, Mike! (even though you've purchased the most ridiculous shoes ever.)

I survived the first weekend of Playhouse Disney In Concert... we had the Imagination Movers performing, so it was kind of like a rock concert, just with songs about healthy snacks and sleeping through the night. I would seriously listen to their music even though I don't have kids. I know, it sounds kinda creepy. But they have a great sound, a bit ska-ish with their horn section. I recommend it to all parents looking for music they won't kill themselves after hearing 800 times. This next week is The Doodlebops, who do make me want to kill myself when hearing and seeing them. Plus they're super popular, so I will have a busy weekend ahead.

Plus this week is my roomie Lauren's birthday so we're going to Dixie Stampede on her b'day for dinner, then have a kick ass party planned for Saturday night. The theme is 'To Catch A Predator', which is a show we quite enjoy. Everyone has to come dressed as their favorite predator, and of course bring predator accessories like Mountain Dew and condoms. It's going to be awesome. I'll be sure to post some of the tamer photos!

Playhouse Disney is my LIFE!

Thursday begins the fun of my event, Playhouse Disney In Concert. I've been planning it for the last few months, so I'm excited to see it finally start. It's a nine week long concert series that runs every Thursday through Sunday until the end of October. It features all of your favorites from Playhouse Disney like the Imagination Movers, Doodlebops, Choo Choo Soul, and Johnny and the Sprites in kick ass shows and concerts.
It really does nothing more than make my damn biological clock tick louder since I am constantly surrounded by small children. But it's fun, and I actually don't mind most of the music. The Doodlebops are a little much for me, but dammit if I don't find myself singing along to the Wobbly Woopsie. Curse you Doodlebops!!!
On another childish note about myself, I totally watched High School Musical 2 and really enjoyed it. I may also have a copy of the soundtrack. Fun pop songs to work out to. If I was a tween I would be totally obsessed with Zac Efron. Or maybe if I was 28.

My Nephew

Since everyone has kids except me, I will show off my nephew, Blake!
